The Flock of The Good Shepherd was established in 2010 with the purpose of providing funding for needs that can enhance the environment of The Good Shepherd Hospice House and the time that our clients and families spend there.
Over the last eight years, our membership funds have enabled the “Flock” to beautify the gardens and exterior, as well as the interior of our lovely Good Shepherd Hospice House.
With this fund high-quality lift chairs have been provided for our patient rooms, as well as bed and bath linens, dishes and small appliances for the kitchen, and a snow blower and an outdoor building used to store the snow blower and gardening equipment. Last year we had the courtyard outdoor furniture powder coated along with seasonal flowering containers for outdoors, and seasonal decor items for indoors.
This year, our focus is on providing new TV’s for each patient room. When the building was originally furnished, in the interests of fund availability, very small and inexpensive TV sets were purchased. Today, these TV’s are inadequate, and recently several clients and families have requested to tote in their own TVs from home. We estimate that $450 per room will be required to purchase new sets for each room. There are 12 patient rooms at The Good Shepherd.
